Another key to understanding where the bluewater is, and where the tuna may lie is in the Chlorophyll charts. Check those out. They will help show you where the bluewater lies. If you can compare these 'on top' of the SST charts, you can get a better understanding where the most ideal spots may be. For instance, where temp breaks are, but making sure they are out in blue water. Also where possible overlaps may be, such as a temp break right along the bluewater line. Because just remember, chlorophyll means food. As with any food pyramid, it starts with the smallest members. In this case, that would be the chlorophyll.
Chlorophyll/plankton feeds small anchovies, squid, sardines, etc..
Anchovies, squid, sardines, etc, feed TUNA!
...Now this isn't EVERYTHING about 'finding tuna'... for we don't know EVERYTHING. But perhaps this will help give you a better understanding as to how the ecosystem works out there. ...AND help to locate the areas that have the best potential to begin your search for the TUNA!
I hope others will chime in and elaborate further, for this is only a small piece to the puzzle. There is still bottom contour, etc.
Hope that helps a little~
