Default Gariblaldi Tuna Report 7/8

Nice ocean but we had to run out to the 125 line to find blue water...plenty warm but very green inside.

Everyone caught fish...8-10 boats out there...most had close to 15-20 with Tuna Time landing 35+ and the G-Loomis team bagging 31.

We ended with 28...Chad that was some nice work brother!

Too bad we did not have this weather yesterday!

We had some radio malfunctions and couldn't get the word on where the fish were. We fished northwest of Garibaldi and the fishing was spotty. about 45 50 125 Only managed 4. We ran out 50 miles to find the blue water. 63 temp but still spotty. Found out back at the dock the party was happening south of us. Need to get that radio looked at. We found some 63 to 64 degree green water. No TUNA to be found in the green water though. Overall a nice day. 3 TUNA challenged people got fish today. I was happy to teach them a thing or two. Last two Sundays have been really nice oceans.

"Time Out" brought a newbie over to the dark side. He doesn't know it yet but his life is ruined from just one little taste of the silver bullets. We were going to let him catch tuners until he cried uncle, but he just kept taking more action, so I had to take a pole from his hands so I could land one. Good day on the blue pond today. The water around Garibaldi is a lot smoother than down around Newport.

We ended up with 19...and another one lost to the dark side. Action was spotty but there was a flurry of fish that had 5 fish on the deck and 4 rods bent over. Seelicious and Tuna time found the fish and called everyone into the bite. They are like PETA's worst nightmare.

Very nice! Bud Depoe was nice today also, we got our Salmon early, & headed for Area 61 with Raven, 3 Tunagins on board, & wouldn't you know it, a triple to start, landed all 3, 3 Tunagins lost their virginity all at once. ended with 13, Raven got 15, Sliverhawk(i think) found the fish fiirst, & radioed the report, Thanks man. we were the only 3 boats there. 60.8 deg, with blue water still at Area 61.

Nice work brother! That's how you turn a day around!

It was not a good day to be a tuna...unless you were off the CR

OUch! That hurt bro. Tuna were really scattered out there off the CR and this north wind is not helping matters at all. We need a big south west blow for about 4 days to warm the water up a tad and concentrate the fish.

You know yesterday was sort a inflection point. One of those "man, life is sweet" moments. Out there with Seelicious and Tuna Time in sight, bustin a Tunagin, getting the ice thing figured out. Stowaway owned the pit!...and deserved to. lots of action and got plenty. Smooth ride in with lots of grins. Great first trip this year.
Cheers

Hozzie,

Great day brother, big thanks from Theresa and I!

Having the “Hens” on board was a great addition; Seely always spices things up and is so fun to fish with. Theresa had a great time and thinks the bed down below is about the best feature on Seelicious. Some more sleep and a few less cocktails the night before and she might even fight a fish on the next trip…

Nice work to Gary and Greg on those Swim bait fish and putting in the work, congrats to Dick for another solid day leading the pack.

The Blue Marlin mentioned something about a large Butt he caught inside rivaling the one we caught. That had to be fun. Thanks again Doug for a place to crash.

And a big thank you and congrats to Del, Weddy, Mike, the Rouge and the rest of the crew for the great job at the Newport OTC party!

Great weekend all around; golf, Newport BBQ and the fishing. Thanks again.

More like 1.5 on board... Waggin was not anywhere close to his top game. But you were the high boat for chumming.

He really put out the effort this weekend and I didn’t have to ask why he was drinking Diet Coke last night while we carked those fish…

Nice to hang and fish with you Roy.

A nice day to be in the pit! Congrats to the Captain for getting his first swimbait fish . We hooked 3 others on swimbaits but they came unbuttoned, none on iron. Nice to see the Dogs at Big Tuna Marine!

Sorry to the guys (Dave & Jack) who tried to get a hold of me this weekend but my phone was dead and left my charger at work. Hopefully you guys found a crew!

CR boys are just getting a little impatient right now. We got use to having the fish up here first last couple of years. Payback is hard.

May be down there Bud. Ya never know. WAtching the SST's and forecast.

Bud, thanks again to you and Dick for calling in the dogs to the bite. I was watching my radar while I was trolling to the bite and it looked like a pack of wolves circleing a downed elk. I LOVE IT WHEN A PLAN COMES TOGETHER.

George it was a team effort finding the fish...but when we found them it sure was fun...everyone putting fish on the deck...the radio chatter was "double" or "tuna board" can't remember how many times I heard that on Saturday.

Makes the weekend forecast look that much better!

There is one more turned to the dark-side. It took us a couple dissapointing trips to do it but he's hooked! It was also the first tuna blood on my new boat. (I'm a boat ho no more) I was the guy in the 23' Mako out there with the pack. We ended the day with 27 fish. It was a great day on the ocean. Can't wait to do it again.

Man, I would love to, but my crew and I are from up by Bellingham, WA. It's a long haul for us to get down there. We might make it back in two weeks, but unfortunately probably not this weekend.

That is a haul...but once you're here...you're fishing flat water for 3 days and that is hard to pass up.

Of course, it's easy to say that when you're 90 miles from your boat.

Bernie...pretty much a kid in the candy store
