Default Ocean Salmon Season / ODFW links

With all of the interest in the summer of Silvers, I thought I might throw a few links to ODFW up for all to see.

Ocean Sport Salmon fishing regs. http://www.hmsc.orst.edu/odfw/regs/salsport.html

Ocean Salmon Troller regs for all you commercial draggers. http://www.hmsc.orst.edu/odfw/regs/saltroll.html

Special areas/Terminal areas http://www.hmsc.orst.edu/odfw/regs/statewaters.html

Effort and catch survey, Sorry this one gives a '404' nowadays. But it has been very useful in the past. http://www.hmsc.orst.edu/odfw/salmon/salsportcatch.html

Notices http://www.hmsc.orst.edu/odfw/salmon/updates.html

All of these are good links except the effort survey. I expect that one will get revived on the 22nd of June.

So to review, Silvers are available from June 22 to July 31, 7 days a week on most of the Oregon coast, Whoo hoo!

Go get em!

Pilar,

I believe the season opener and days open to fishing from Leadbetter Point to Cape Falcon is different then what you posted on your last sentence.

The following is what I found from Leadbetter to Cape Falcon

Open Sunday through Thursday from July 1 to Sept. 3 or until 102,500 fin-clipped coho are harvested. The daily bag limit is two salmon per day, but only one chinook may be retained and all coho must be adipose fin-clipped. The season will be managed with a chinook guideline of 7,750. The area from Tillamook Head south to Cape Falcon closes Aug. 1.

Cape Falcon to Humbug Mountain is open from June 22 to July 31st seven days a week for coho or until the quota is meet.

So the coast is split in 2 seasons, make sure you understand the area you'll be fishing in. I know you already know this, just had to mention what should be the obvious.

Thanks, Hook! The map on the link makes all that pretty obvious. 'Most of the Coast' is from just north of Tillamook bay almost all the way to California.

But check out the links and invite your lawyer over for an adult beverage, he'll explain what you are reading to you.

The really cool thing is that it is 7 days/ week. There are that many fish available. Of course it's barbless, release the unclipped, stand on one foot and trolling motor in reverse only. What the heck we get some Ocean salmon for a change.

Fish, get in the boat!
