Increase the ocean season around the Columbia. They have already increased the catch limit for the lower river. Are the returns going to be on the whole North coast? We need more input from the ODFW.

I suggest everyone read Jennies column for today because she raises an interesting point. What to do with the predicted glut of coho salmon expected this fall. What should be done if an abundance makes it to the hatcheries? How many remember what took place years ago on some of the SW Washington rivers when there were so many fish? I remember it was the dregs of humanity and their snagfest! So anyone suggesting a snag fishery forget it! I think keeping the ocean sport fishery open longer is one idea and maybe they are already going to do that. Increased bag limits on more than just rivers like the Cowlitz is another idea. Speaking of snagging, RT and I were talkingto Rob Allens friend Brian Barnes last night on the Washougal about this very thing. He told us that someone was stabbedlast year during the coho run in the Washougal in an area that is known for illegal snagging! Imagine that! All I know is the state police had better be prepared.
