Default FOLLOW-UP CR Crossing

Terry H, Chromer..thanks for the help. BUT at your suggestion i went to wetsand.com and had difficult time getting marine forecast for CR Bar Crossing. Suggestions. Can't find info you suggeted.

Still hoping to cross on Monday 7/9. I've got some guys flying in so i'd like to know if there's a reasonable chance the bar will let us get out in our 20' Northriver Seahawk.

"Wet Sand" will not give you any river information.

Here is the link for the columbia river bat at the Clatsop Spit. Until you become more experienced I suggest you only cross at the slack water times!

Beings how you have never crossed the CR you might want to try a lesser bar to get out in the ocean. Might I suggest Depoe Bay or Newport. Great place to learn without the big water to contend with. Lot's of fishing there as well.

Pastorfish,

If you cross at the right time (per Odin's suggestion) the bar can be pretty uneventful.

If you cross at the wrong tide, it can be really scary (I forget this every couple of years and scare the hell out of myself).

It is probably a good idea to run out with someone before you try it in your own boat.
