If you could fish with one person......
Who would it be and why? They can be famous, infamous, or just the regular joe. This seems like a good topic to open up since I got this idea from a question I've heard repeated at beauty pageants (I normally wouldn't watch these things as they are appalling ) They were asked "If you could eat dinner with one person, who would it be and why?" You get the picture. I'll reserve posting for now, and feel free to post as many as you like, but try to keep them into categories as to not clog this thread up, i.e.: if you've wanted to fish with Heidi Klum, but you've also wanted to fish with Tyra Banks...sorry, choose one since you used the supermodel category up. Re: If you could fish with one person......
I would like to fish with my father. Why? I dont get down to see him that much anymore. Plus when we get together and chase fall chinook we put
some serious hurt on them.

Re: If you could fish with one person......
I never got the chance to fish with my father-in-law before he passed away. My husband was a 20 year Navy man and the opportunity never presented itself. I think I would have enjoyed it very much...

It would have to be my grandfather. He got me started in fishing and kept me interested in it. It'd be great to fish with him again if just for 1 more day.

Re: If you could fish with one person......
I would have to say my daughter, Abby. She's a real trooper. I took her out on the Salmon tidewater when she was 3 and she spent about 12 hours in the boat with only one episode of complaining. Of course, she slept through the fish we caught
2 years ago she caught her first salmon at OC with me and it was great fun.
Our most recent trip I also took our youngest daughter as well as my wife and Abby's competetive side started to show as our youngest started hooking all the fish. We finally were ready to leave when Abby announced that she wouldn't quit till she had caught the same number of fish as her sister. Fortunately that didn't take too long.

Re: If you could fish with one person......
Ermie Walters. Over the years I've watched from a distance. Talked to the man a few times at the takeouts, but never had an oppurtunity to fish with Ermie. Around my local river, Ermie is a living legend. A masterful steelheader and salmon fisherman. I've seen Ermie work his magic to coax fish other people missed. I've seen Ermie share his years of knowledge with others, guiding people into fish, showing them where to cast and where to anchor. Ermie is serious about his fishing, but generous with his knowledge.
He doesn't know me, not by name or even face after the many years that have gone by. But I can still recall his handshake and warm smile after a chance meeting at the close to a successful day on the river.
I make these notes from a distance, never drifting and fishing together. I hear that Ermie is still around fishing. But after several heart surgeries, I never know when Ermie won't be there for the next run of fish.
My wish, to share a drift with Ermie.

Re: If you could fish with one person......
Supermodels, Hey_yall? Don't you know that supermodels are either anorexic, bulemic, or both? Nasty!!! I prefer the real deal and thats why I'd love to fish with my favorite adult entertainer:
Jenna Jameson!!!
Why? Well, think about it. I've already fished with legendary steelhead and salmon fisherman such as Steve "RT" Hanson, Bill Herzog, Joe "Superfly" Superfisky, and Bob Ball.
Besides, I wouldn't need rod holders if she went fishing in my boat. She can hold my rod anytime
Peace, love, and the pursuit of steelhead.

Re: If you could fish with one person......
If I could fish with one person it would be my uncle Dee King. Unfortunately, he died many years ago, too many Camel non-filter cigarettes. He started me steelhead fishing when I was 12 years old. He made me learn how to use a level wind in 1969-70. It was a Ambassadeur 5000. I credit him for 99% of my steelhead knowledge to this date. I have been steelhead fishing for 32 years and have yet to meet a man of his knowledge. He could catch a Steelhead in the mud puddle of the parking lot at Safeway!

Hey fobbman,
Not claiming to be an expert, but I think that was Houston, not Jenna that took the kid to a prom. It was filmed for the Howard Stern show and I remember watching it.

I second the motion for:
Jenna Jameson!!!
What and incredible woman, God I love her!!
My X wife sure hated her, hah I guess that is why she is My X
I don't know exactly how much fishing we would get done, but I am sure we would have a great time at any hotel room, I mean any river that we fished.

Historically: I would have loved to fish with Jesus. He caught enough fish to feed a throng of people all by himself. I would ask Him lots of questions about what the fish really want and why! ...
Future: Denise Richards. She would fish with me in a heartbeat! Well, maybe for a heartbeat. Think about it for a heartbeat? My heart would be beating! Your hearts would be bleeding.

Good one RT. That is who I would pick as number one. I can't believe someone didn't pick him before now. Second would be my Dad and third would be my little 9 year old Katie. She can talk your head off!!

Re: If you could fish with one person......
I guess I'd have to list two people.
First (Real Life) My step Dad. He taught me so much about fishing when I was growing up back in Michigan. Now I live out here and he is still back in Michigan and our time together on the water is too few and far between.
Now for fanatsy..... Anna Kournikova. She has the looks, she's athletic and she can get a ride in my boat anytime!!

First would be my Dad. I have been trying to get him to go for years.
Second would be one of my heros, Ted Nugent. I think he would be a hoot to have in my driftboat.

That's a really good question. Since I'd want to make that trip count, I'd want to be on TV. My vote would have to be a fishing trip with Shelley & Courtney.
Hey S&C, feel free to email me when we're going fishing!
Fish on, ehe?

Re: If you could fish with one person......
This may sound weird to you all but I would love the chance to fish with my Grandmother. She was the biggest influence on me and was the strongest person I have ever met. You always knew what she was thinking. She came accross as harsh but she was just very honest. Once while fishing Browns lake in Montana she was yarding fish in one after another and because I was the youngest I had the honnor of baiting her hook. Well as most 8 yr old boys would I got tired of it so decided instead of that salmon egg that a dried up hard berry off a near by bush would be great.(you know slow her action up a little) Well before I could get back to my own pole she had hooked a fish. Turned out to be a 6 pound rainbow that was just fat as heck. You know I picked that bush empty and tried every one on those dang things. Could you believe not a fish! I am 33 yrs old, she has been gone since I was 19 and I think of her every day. I can only hope my daughters have that powerful of an influence in their lives.

Re: If you could fish with one person......
Great responses everyone, but Jenna would get picked hand over fisted by Trish Stratus as the fantasy fishing friend.
Fishhead5 - I got in trouble last time I directed someone with a link of that stature, so if you want to know who Jenna is...I say do a search on yahoo
Now the serious side: I'd want to fish with my Grandpa James. He wasn't my real grandfather, but my my "step-grandfather", but he took upon the role that proves you don't have to be biological to be a father to a kid, etc. He filled a role of a father figure, mentor, hero, and role model for we 3 young men: myself and my 2 younger brothers well before dad skipped town. He was the first person to take me fishing when I was 3, and he started a fire in me that continues to burn today, to be the best true sportsman that I can be, and to uphold mother nature and to respect her always.
I moved out here in July of 98 and it was tough leaving for I knew grandpa james was dying. After he became bed-ridden, I would send him letters in the mail telling him in great detail of my fishing adventures out here and would include pictures of the fish we would catch. I told him that since I grew up listening to all his fishing and hunting stories, that it was time to repay the favor since he could no longer get out there and do these things that he loved so much. He passed away on Sept. 16th of last year, and my dream fishing excursion would be me and my grandpa fishing together out here for king salmon. I always wanted to see the look on his face if he was able to fish out here, and to be healthy for one day to fully enjoy everything about this place. I think in my letters, we really did fish together in my stories as I knew he could just picture the scenery, the smell, and the excitement.
A tie for Grandpa James would be my Great-grandmother who is 94 or 95. She too lit that flame that gives me the passion to get outdoors and enjoy everything about it. She still is one of my favorite fishing partners whenever I go back home. You cannot beat her personality and her knack for catching fish...no matter where you fish. I just know she would pee herself if she fished out here for the "big rascals" as she likes to call the big fish that. I try to fish with her as often as I can when I visit since no one really ever takes her out fishing anymore. Always seems no one ever has any time, and I know it breaks her heart. The worst thing you can do to a fisherman is take away their opportunity to fish so remember that next time you feel you are too busy to spend time with those that are close to you....as those days could soon become lost and once they are lost, you can only dream about them.

Re: If you could fish with one person......
Okay, now to post to this thread seriously. My great-grandfather Charles would hands-down be my choice for fishing partners. I have his photo album and it has all kinds of pictures of the fish he caught while fishing in the western Washington area along with the name of the river. One of my goals in life is to fish the same rivers and catch fish from them.

Re: If you could fish with one person......
Gotta say my choice's would be Roderick Haig-Brown, and my grandfather. Anyones who's read A River Never Sleeps, or any of the Fishermans Seasons books knows what I'm talking about. His passion for the West Coast and its' fish was unreal. Second would be fishing the Gaspe with my late grandfather, casting for Atlantics out of a canoe, like he used to do each year in the 50's and 60's untill his stroke. He was in a wheelchair the whole time I knew him, so I never got a chance to fish with him.

Since I started this whole Jenna Jameson thread, then perhaps I should shed a little insight on this topic.
Here is a tasteful pic of Jenna that should not offend anybody. Enjoy!!
Arrrgh!!! Couldn't get the pic to work. I don't want to get in trouble anyways so well just wait 'til Hey_yall posts a pic

Thanks for the inspirational post Mike! (Yall) My Dad is pushin 80 and has a tough time getting in and out of cars these days (bad knees). He used to fish with me and my 2 brothers a lot many years ago - but was more into deer and elk hunting. Your post will have me trying again to get him out in the sled to fish during the good weather.

Re: If you could fish with one person......
hookset,
I have fished with Ermie Walters. I worked with his daughter a few years ago. He stopped in to see her. She introduced me to him. He invited me to tag along one afternoon. We fished for chinook on the Alsea. Ermie can catch fish.... I spent more time watching and listening than I did fishing. Ermie is trueley a master.
