New member here too!
Greetings to all at ifish,
I found this site about 6 months ago, and have lurked off and on, when time permits.
I am an avid salmon and steelhead fisherman from here in Washington. I don't often fish Oregon waters, but I love this board for the witty reparte' and friendly, supportive atmosphere. I look forward to contributing where I can, and maybe meeting some fellow Ifisher's on a river somewhere.

Re: New member here too!
Welcome 4salt. Always good to see one of WA crew on here. We'll have to hook up and fish some of these Grays Harbor Rivers this fall. Ever need any info on some of the places in my area, just holler, and I'll come from over yonder.

Welcome aboard 4SALT. In regards to your boat you should do like i do, find a car wash, pull in to it and then you say,"Wanna go home, then wash the boat". They will do it without question.
Will be looking for your posts. cagey. A CLOSED MOUTH GATHERS NO FOOT

Re: New member here too!
Thanks HEY_YALL,
Come the first rains of October, you pretty much have to pry me off of those rivers! I've really enjoyed reading the sh*t that you give some of these guys here, and on Bob's board. Come this fall, let's hook up and fish.

Re: New member here too!
Thanks to you also Hawgcatcher, and everyone else. I do enjoy everyone's posts, and although I've never fished rivers like the Wilson, Trask, Santiam etc.. I like reading about them. I didn't mean to imply that I only liked controversial posts, but the banter between RT, HEY_YALL, Bigstew, Osprey etc.. can be pretty funny at times.

Re: New member here too!
Welcome 4Salt good to have you over here at Ifish.
I've only met you once in person and that was last fall at Douglas Bar when Michael Parker, Brian, and I talked to you at the boat ramp and you got that coho.
I was the one with the black Thor Built drift boat.
Look forward to your good posts over here too. Have a good one and tight lines!
Justin

Re: New member here too!
Just returned from Olson's Resort at Sekiu, caught limits of rockfish and ling every day.Fished the seal and sail, and lighthouse. Did'nt fish for halibut but watched a 95lb,and 2 forty pounders weighed at the dock. 8 hour drive from Eugene was worth it.

Re: New member here too!
Welcome aboard 4Salt. If you ever make it down to the north Oregon coast, I'll show you the Wilson river. Maybe even catch a 4Salt in the fall.

Re: New member here too!
Great to see you 4Salt, like your moniker. Thanks for coming forward, we can ALWAYS use a suppotive hand answering all those tech questions.
In what areas of Washington do you fish? From the sounds of your handle I'd guess a little ocean fishing? At least it sounds salty enough being a 4 year returner.
Welcome,
hookset

Re: New member here too!
I kind of have my fishing year planned out.
In the fall, I fish Gray's harbor rivers for salmon. Winter finds me on north puget sound rivers chasing hatchery steelhead. Late winter, early spring, it used to be C&R native steelhead on the Sauk, Skagit, Skykomish rivers, but with the closures this year (and maybe for a long time to come, but I hope not )I concentrated more on Olympic penninsula rivers. Late May, it's shad and sturgeon below Bonneville dam. In June, my wife and I take our annual trip to Alaska for 1st run Kasilof river kings. Back to north puget sound, for summerruns, then come September, it's time to do it all over again I used to fish puget sound, and the straits (Neah bay, Sekiu) quite a bit, but with all of the closures in the early 90's, I decided to sell my boat and devote more time to rivers. Besides, it's a whole lot easier than having to clean the boat, while my buddies went home!

Re: New member here too!
Welcome salt I am out here on the oly pen. Better bring some scissors and use nair before heading out with Redneck (he loves duct tape)
Bob you mention names that don't ring a bell with me on your sekiu trip... Did you run all the way to Neah in your boat? First week in July I can be found in Sekiu thumping kings. Plan on making short work of the kings and moving on to bottom fish weather permitting. Not sure which direction I will head from the launch..will be in full search mode until I find the fish.

Re: New member here too!
Hi smilesforu. Seal and sail are two large rocks halfway between sekiu and neah bay about a mile offshore. It's about a 13 mile run to neah bay from sekiu. From neah bay to the lighthouse off Cape Flattery is about mile or so. This spot requires constant attention. Beautiful area hope to return.
