Halibut fishing is GREAT in AK!
Pilar, you should be here playing your Opera music reeling in the big daddy's. Have a returning guest that has been coming here for years and he finally got a big one, it weighted in at 110# not bad for a 71 year old guy! Yesterday they got a 95, 65, a couple of 50's and several smaller. Now that is some fish and chips.
BTW - the Kasilof is producing some nice fish still, I fished it (FINALLY) the other day and we got one king and one sockeye that actually hit the diver and eggs. My guide has been doing very well, I just talked with him and he got 10 to the boat today.
The Kenai is still on the slow side, there are fish there but they won't bite. There is a general feeling that they may open the river to bait soon, (it is all baitless and single hook) they have had plenty of fish get buy to spawn upriver, now maybe it is the angler's turn to catch a few.
Sunsets about 1:00 a.m. and sunrises about 3:00 a.m. Lots of light to fish by....
Tight lines, Kim
