DT, It sounds like you might have ruined the one you drilled, but if you got another, can you also get the 1/4" smaller pin and use some brass sleaves to make up the difference in the other outside holes that the pin rides in?

Just a thought.

Default OMC bracket

I have an OMC bracket for my trolling motor with a 125 pound cylinder (apparently they also make one with an 80 pound cylinder). The cylinder blew out and needs replacement, I ordered a new cylinder but the head, where the pin goes through it to hold it to the bracket is about 1/4" smaller in diameter than the original. Tried to have the hole drilled out to fit the original pin (approx. 7/16") and the cylinder exploded. Apparently there was not enough meat to drill, we knew it would be close. Has anyone had this problem and if so, how did you solve it? Looking into it now, was hoping someone could save me some time. Thanks for any info.

DK, yes it is sealed and cannot be rebuilt. Yes, the tube blew when it was drilled. Sounded like it made quite a mess.

SureSet, that is next on the list to get a stainless pin the right size and some bushings. For now they found me a used cylinder which is working fine.

Thanks for the info. gentlemen.
