Sturg
Elwix and I took a newbie from work out for sturg yesterday below St Helens. Found a likely spot and put out the lines. We were using smelt and I had sandshrimp wrapped on my smelt as well. The newbie lands a shaker right off. Woohoo, this is going to be a good day. Then Elwix gets a couple in a row. Then my rod buries and the sucker is taking line. There was no doubt that it was going to be a keeper. Took about ten minutes to get in on my 2-8 backbouncer rod I bought froma fellow Ifisher. It taped out at 49 inches. Then we had a little grief. Some one who shall remain nameless realized that they forgot their fishing license so we headed back to the dock so they could go get it. The newbie and I used that time to look around the river for springer channels. OOOOps, did I just do that, hehe. Then I realized that I had no throwable either. We jetted across to the St Helens Marina and bought on and were soon at anchor again. Elwix ended with ten or so, the newbie ended with six or seven and yup, I only got the one. Sure did taste good dipped in egg and ground cashews then in a nice hot oil bath. Soaked in milk for a couple of hours first. Yumm
