Spent a few days there in June 14th thru the 19th. Took the family and fished primarily for crappie. Fish were post spawn and very scattered. As as have been my last few trips there, once you locate them you catch 3 to 5 fish and can't seem to get anymore so we moved around a lot. Best fish came from prominent points on the snake up and down river from the mouth of the powder ( I launch out of Hewitt Park and stay in Halfway). Most of the nice fish came from 30' or deeper. We use a small green and chartruse twister tail jig on 1/32 to 1/8 oz jigheads. I can't remember the name of the bait right now but they are available at Sportsmans. Lately the twister tail action has been better than the small rubber tube jigs. I always tip any bait with a crappie nibble. Best fishing time was 6:00 pm to dark and for some reason the night fishing was not that good this trip. By the time you get there the fish might be schooling back up. There were plenty of bass as well. THe temps were warming up and the morning and evening top water was a blast.
I would really like to hear how you do on Owyhee. I have been considering a fall trip as I've heard it's been kicking out some big crappie. PM me if you need the name of the jigs, I'm sure it will come to me!
GOOD LUCK

Was at the Owyhee at Leslie Gulch and the lake is low, not completly full, but is fishable. Didn't fish but expect very hot weather.

Good Luck

Here are a couple links regarding water levels and temps for some reservoirs in E. Ore.

Here's what was happening last week in the Powder Arm and the lower Snake. My last day out was the 6th. Thursday it hit 110 deg. at my ranch on the Powder.
Catfish are really coming on. We caught them in the flats and also out in the Snake bobber fishing. Friday we left them biting on the Snake to go look for bluegill. Some 10 lb fish were caught last week. A local landed a 20 lb cat on 4lb line on a crappie jig recently.
Crappie are holding 20'-30' deep in both the Powder and Snake. They bite pretty good until about 10AM then really slow down. Most of them were white crappie averaging 10" with a few 13"-14" slabs mixed in. Interestingly, a large % of the crappie are still holding nearly ripe eggs.
I have not targeted bass recently but we have been catching a few while fishing for other species. For the better fish I would fish 20' or deeper. We did land a 3lb fish on a pumpinseed tube in 12' of water. This fish still had eggs. Believe it or not,the last week of June most of the bass I saw brought in to the cleaning table still had healthy eggs. Most of the bass we are hooking are spitting out small 2"-3" crappie and occasionally a crawdad.
Yellow perch are showing up better but still not good. We did catch some nice keepers while catfishing in the flats.
Bluegill have been hard to find. Mostly small fish in the spawning areas and they have not shown up on the deep post spawn areas.

Thanks for the report CC. 110 degree  , man that got to be uncomfortable. It sounds like the catfishing is starting to pick-up. I am heading to Huntington in a next couple of weeks. Hopefully, the temp will lower in the 90's or so. Thanks again for the update.
