Default Sandy River- Revenue Bridge

My family owns property just down stream from the Revenue bridge, which is just above the hatchery in Sandy. I have done well over the past year on steelhead but was wondering when and if the springers make it that high on the river. I will be there friday, saturday, and sunday and am trying to determine if I need to bring a bigger stick for the big fish? Thanks in advance for any information.

My parents live about 400 yards above revenue, and from what I've seen, the majority of the fish hang out at cedar creek. Last summer I did see a few that came up past revenue, but the majority definantly are looking to go back to the hatchery.

i finally found dam counts for marmot and last year june had 200 chinook make it to the trap, and july had 400. these are native and hatchery fish (they don't differentiate on the count). i'd say bring your big stick and walk softly.

Ceder Creek doesn't get spring chinook back to it. The Springers that are planted in the Sandy come from the Clackamas Hatchery.

Spring chinook run all the way up the Sandy.

Bring your salmon rod.

Or fish for steelhead and be real surprised when 'Ol spotty tail spools your steelhead rig! This has happened to me almost every year now below Marmot dam. The will take a sandshrimp and yarn (pink) with a red 1/0 hook.

Pick a day to fish after a 7 -10 day dry spell and then a significant rain of 3/4" to 1". This seems to move all of the fish upriver at once. I pick a nice drift and watch them swim by all day.

Pilar, That would be nice to get a 3/4 or 1 inch of rain day so we could watch them swim by.
