I just got a peep sight for my #3 ,but I need to drill 2 holes ,in my reciever ,I`am not happy about it ,is it a good idea ,it is a nice 1973 #3 in 45-70 what do you think ,and yes I`am getting older so the peep is nice to shoot with Oh yeah I will use a gun smith to do it
IF you could find a set of bases (I might know where you could find a set), you could always mount a low powered Scope on your #3 instead of drilling and tapping for a rear Peep Sight.
I have a #3 in .22 Hornet with a scope mounted. The carbine came drilled and tapped from the factory, so going that route wouldn't really change the collector's value of it.
PM me if you're interested in knowing where you might be able to find Bases and Rings.
