Default Crane Report

I fished Crane with a good friend on Sunday. We managed several nice fish including one that went approx 8 pounds. Fished multiple channels and had luck in pretty much every place. The wind drove us off the water around 2pm.

I've been experimenting with frog hair flurocarbon and I'm really liking it. I was able to get away with 3X and it held up really well considering my big fish spent more time in the air than it did in the water.

Red chironomids 12 inches off the bottom was the fly du jour.

Another thing to note... we hooked a good portion of smaller fish from multiple hatchery strains as well as two wild fish.

The changes ODFW made to the stocking appears to mitigate some of the bass predation.

When you say off the bottom are you using a sinking line, or is that under an indicator ??

I am asking because we are headed that way for the first time in 15 years (used to be annual, but the bass and low quality fishing changed all that) However, my son is leaving for school, and I thought Rock Creek might be a good place to spend a couple of nights, and hit a couple of places on our way west. In the past, we used damsel flys and floating line. I hate indicator fishing, but will do what I have to. any other tips you can give would be great. P.M if you can, and if you need any info from the East side, I can reciprocate

PM sent.

bring your Indicators if you go to Crane, or go fish Little Lava. Little Lava has been great on buggers, soft hackles, and callibatetis.
