Default Trailer jacks/Stevens Marine

Should I really expect a $70 jack to last more than 2 and a half years? I think so. The Triton jack on my Rogue trailer, purchased from Stevens Marine collapsed Sunday. The worm gears stripped down the shaft. Do you suppose anyone involved in selling me this crappy equipment would stand behind the product? You know the answer; NO. All I got was, "we're sorry". I'm not sorry I won't be visiting the folks at Stevens Marine ever again.

I'm in need of a trailer jack also. I have been looking at a place on Mclaughlin (spelling?) called trailer parts. just past acropolis on 99e southbound. They have all the trailer parts you need. Fulton trailer jacks I believe. I've had to weld support gussets to mine to keep them from bending. I wheel my boat around on the trailer jack wheels a lot since it sits in the garage diagonally to make it fit. Have broken the handle, bushing and bevel gear before. I sent a letter to fulton to explain my situation. They shipped me a new gear and bushing free of charge and I bought the new handle locally.

Can't complain about that.

Yeah...I had to replace mine after a couple of years.....I think they don't fare too well in the salt water......DK might have the answer. For me...I got a replacement at O.C. Marina south of Canema for $36.00. It's not the "Magnum"....but it works just fine. 800lb.capacity...........

Funny, I just replaced the Fulton Magnum series jack on my Rouge Trailer, had the top gear and pinion break into a dozen pieces..can't blame Steven's though, it was standard epuipment....and I would go out on a limb and suggest that Steven's didn't manufacture the jack only installed it...70.00 is about right from what I paid down here in Newport...Marina's are over priced...but they are seasonal businesses and got to make enough to get them thru the off times..I would take the cause to thoses who built the damn thing...Steve
