Default Hmmm -- Bigstew is leaving ........

I just learned from my friend Shane (Bigstew) that he has chosen to step away from his moderator role here at Ifish. I know the reasons well; I've been thru the scenario. I asked him if he is posting an anouncement and he said not likely, that he will just be a regular member and have his name disappear from the mod squad list without any attention to it. I asked him if he'd mind if I posted something about it because people shouldn't be left hanging about this with a wrong impression of him; and he said that's fine. So...

When Shane became my co-moderator here he was asked by me and Jen to watch for and delete inflamatory posts. He has done that to a chorus of negative reactions from a few members on here. It was mentioned to him that "RT wouldn't have deleted that". Maybe so, but 'Stew was acting on behalf of the stated quidelines of the Ifish ownership. Given the inconsistencies of what was allowed on here by controversial members and not others really put 'Stew in an impossible situation - being put in a villain's role as Ifish clean-up guy. While the clean image guidelines were posted publicly, behind the scenes controversial members who do NOT stick to these guidlelines were encouraged to return; thus creating an unfair and intolerable situation for 'Stew. I understand his leaving and not wanting to create a controversy; being his friend, I just wanted things clarified about his tough circumstances. As for you guys that critisized him for some of his deletions, just know where that came from! And that off the BB he is almost as loose and crazy as me. - Thanks for your efforts 'Stew. - RT

Dude,
Why do you gotta go and start crap with Jennie again. If you have an issue with her, KEEP IT OFF THE BOARD! None of us want to see this board go through the crap it did when you, RT the "Living Legend" left.

See Ya,

Loose and crazy as you? Well, without getting deleted, I'll just say "have duct tape will travel."

I'm enjoying reading some posts by stew in regards of being Zebco pro-staff like myself and in ribbing you in a past post, remember winky faces aren't the law when you are just ribbing someone without being serious, and emails should stay as private conversations between you and the person who sent it to you.

Well I wasn't going to comment but I guess I'd better. RT and I are friends and he asked if he could make a statement about me giving up my moderator job and I said fine he is my friend and I appreciate his friendship.
The moderator job had become too much for me and I wasn't enjoying it any longer. Did I have some differences in philosophy with Jennie? Yeah I did but everyone is different and that's okay too. I felt like I couldn't be myself and be effective as a moderator it's as simple as that. Jennie has responsibilities to her advertisers on ifish and she needs to do them. Please don't let this become a flame war! Ifish is a great place with a lot of great people. I've met some very nice people on this board and they have become good friends.

Stew,
I was going to post this in my above reply, but I got distracted. I know that you and I had a couple of differences but all in all I'm pretty sure you're a good guy. I also know that you took your appointment as moderator very seriously. You were put in a hard position that I for one did not envy. I'll look forward to seeing more of your posts on here as a regular member of the board. Good luck and tight lines.

Tanner

Why am I not surprised that this RT dude is back here to cause trouble. Hey, I have an idea! Why don't we wait till she's out of town and really screw things up??? Great timing guys, you should be proud.

Look in the dictionary under "cheap shot" and you will see this thread.

HEY TANNER, none of this "crap" was started by me! Your's is the first 'in your face' post in this thread! As stated I am just helping 'Stew leave with a fair shake concerning the impressions some have of him - that's it. And who in the h*ll ever said anything about a legend? Oh, that's right, I think it was you when I posted the verifiable reasons I left a couple months ago. Not me or my friends! Some have a problem with facts. If you have a problem with your self esteem and are so easily bothered by this that you 'yell' at me to keep it off 'your' BB, then fine - bring your problems straight to my face in person!!! ....

And Os my man, you of all people saying "sometimes it better not to say anything" - LOL, you are one entertaining HC.

Did you ever notice that moderators here have about the same turnover rate as day-care workers? You think it's because we act like a bunch of kids sometimes? I'm just glad I'm not a moderator (or Jen)........it's really a thankless job.

I'll just say "thanks" Stew, you've done pretty well as far as I'm concerned.

BS,
Sorry to see ya go as moderator. Tough position to be in, as with any "management" position you will not please everybody all of the time, but that goes with the teritory. Glad to see that you will still be an active board member!!! I think that your a good guy........even if you are a Dodger fan!!! Great thread on the rock n roll, there was no wrong answer to that one!!!
Good luck and tight lines, Jeff

Sure Pete, but this group is a WWF `rasslin group if ever there was one. And they're always swinging on the break.

At least this didn't degenerate to a "he said, she said" like the last one did...yet.

RT,
I apologize for "yelling" at you. I just don't want to see this board degenerate back to where it was after you left.
As far as my self esteem goes, I have no problem there. I am my kids's hero and that is all that matters to me.

The great thing about the Internet is the ability to remove your foot from your mouth (or any other body part from any other oriface) through editing a post.

Thanks for the clarification, Tanner.

It sure sounds a lot of the 'good guys' are the ones raising all the shiznit right now. The same ones crying about the Redneck and the infamous bird of prey acting out are the ones sucking there thumb and behaving like redheaded six year olds.
Get over it....if you don't like something someone else posts, or have a personal problem with them, DEAL WITH IT PERSONALLY!!

And I really like the cheesed**k who doesn't have the intestinal fortitude to post under his real moniker spouting off at RT ...you're a real class act.

BTW-- I got off of THE topic...good luck Shane. We haven't met, but you come across as a pretty cool cat. Nobody can moderate a zoo and not get bit in the *ss by some of the monkeys. Now, if we could just keep O's out of the cage

Maybe the next moderator(s) should go simply by the moniker "Moderator", even if they do have a different alias on iFish. I think that it would be easier for the person to do their job.

Just an idea.

Welcome back to the ranks Stew. Moderation of a board is a PITA thanksless job where seldom is the time where a decision is made and everyone is happy with it.

Fobb, that's a great idea - keeping the actual moderator anonymous. He/she could do the job in a clearcut fashion and not have to bear the inevitable personal criticism born of the impossibilty of pleasing everyone. ...

As for me coming back to re-read my original post that started this inevitable thread, I wish I would learn to make these type posts via e-mail to myself and come back and re-read and edit them again later before posting to the BB. I'm a reactionary "dude". Please pardon me for not thinking it thru better before clicking on the 'post message' icon. And I'm sorry Jen if you think I was trying to cause trouble; I wasn't. I was only trying to defend my friend from unfair critism he's gotten. If the Ifish policy seemed to take a little hit as a by-product of that I didn't mean it to sound personal (that's why I tried to edit my post - but Tanner wouldn't allow it). The negatives here will pass quickly back into positive posts again.

You are starting to **** me off (can I say that with the new moderators) You lately have a comment for everything ( this is my chance to say sorry for the other post without posting) and seem to be right. I agree, let the moderators be anonymous and post as themselves if they want to. Who needs the billboards. Let the moderator's be moderator's.

Fobbman, I may have to call you to go fishin.

OLC-

My heart sank when I started reading your post, thinking "Oh Carp, what in the Halibut did I dorado NOW?" Thankfully it was but one more person realizing how fluking BRILLIANT I am.

Let me get this new rod built and my jigs ordered, and I'll take you up on that offer for fishing.

Good job at a thankless and taxing endeavor. You did good bud. Now maybe we can get back out on the river.
By the way all you flamers need to chill.

Geez... comon guys...why is it that some people have to take a simple post and read into it.

I can completely understand your situation. The pay sucked, long hours, and people taking shots at you just because of your moderator title. If anyone wants to be a moderator, hey...go nuts. Then you'll see what it's like.

I just want to go on the record that I support my Dad's descision to quit as the moderator. I know that he will be able to be more himself as one of the general pubic on here. Also I couldn't agree with Fishin Mission's statement more. You want to gripe and cause problems. Go to a chat room on AOL and bug someone there. Let this board serve its purpose for general information and discussion for the fishing community. About fishing related topics. I'll get off my soap box now Thank you

STEW, the heck with the "admin" world and trying to satisfy everyone and interpret everyone's feelings through a written media as this, Let's let's go fishing. This ain't Hollywood anyway. All you snot noses that have not got a clue, in general, you will wise up as you age (some of you).

Since I started this thread I am requesting whoever is the moderator now to lock the thing; and let's move on. As Mark said, some on here are reading things into it that aren't there - as I alluded to in my previous angry post. I appologize to the bystanders that chose to listen in. Please excuse us our emotions. I didn't think it would come to anything more than an appropriate understanding of a good guy - Bigstew. Most everyone already knew of the stated Ifish BB policies and mandates anyway. 'Nuff said?

Bigstew,

You did a great job as moderator and I for one, was happy you were always there. The time you invested alone will never be fully appreciated and your large shoes will be hard to fill. Sorry to see you leave the moderator role and you'll be missed by many including me.

Thanks for everything you've done to make IFish a better place,

Gregg

To all concerned parties. This thread has created some concern among the fellow moderators including myself. In other words, we are watching this closely. Please keep the comments civil without name calling and slander. If this thread continues to decline, this thread will close. I've already deleted 2 post that have negative implications. If you feel this in error, please read the rules of the board.

Thanks everyone,

hook

Mom's not gonna be happy!!

Stew, I don't blame you. Until the moderators are nameless this will continue to be a problem. The trick is for the new mod to still use their old moniker as well, Otherwise when someone drops off the face of the earth, everyone will know who it is.

A tribute to the moderators. Thank you all for helping out with this board. A volunteer posistion that deals with garbage sorting is no fun. Not that all these posts are garbage, but a few do need to be sorted for the proper recycling bin. Human nature makes us experiance emotions. We don't invent them, we discover them. I imagine this moderator job has caused RT and Bigstew to discover some emotions of anguish and frustration.
I recall a student of mine that called me a chicken sh** mo**** F*** for giving him an F on a final exam. I thought he worked hard for that F. evidently he didn't think so. I thought, hey I didn't take this job to get yelled at and called names. I just wanted to help out those that want to learn a little.

Well bigstew, thank you for helping me learn a little about fishing. Being a guy who grew up without a dad. Mine passed away when I was ten, he was 47. I appreciate all I can learn from others. Grandpa taught me what he could, but I didn't see him often enough. So no name calling. Just thank you. Look forward to reading your posts.

Just remember, those who think they know what they are doing are quite a hinderance to those that really do.

Now do I think I know what I'm doing???
