Sunflower seed rant.
With the tuna showing up ,,
Ive been getting the boat ready , you know, the usual stuff.
In the process of cleaning my boat I seem to ALWAYS find some sunflower- seed husks.
About thwo years ago I let a friend bring a nice fresh bag of seeds aboard as he resssured me he would be careful with the shells.
He may have been careful but when the days trip was over he left the bag in my boat .
You boat owners know how easly things can hide on your boat .
Well, I didnt find the seeds .
A trip or two later my son and his 14 year old friend found them and started cracking the creepy little things.
Two years later Im still pulling the little bildge pluggers out of every crack, nook and cranny in my boat .:frown:
Im making a rule ,,,, No seeds in my boat ....
It actually seems like they are having offspring..
hi ho.

Re: Sunflower seed rant.
I hear you IDP.
I love seeds too but I stopped bringing them on the boat because not only do they get into every crevice but if you ever step on one on the deck you quickly find yourself arse over teacups!
Almost fell over the side one time and that was the last time I brought seeds on the boat. :frown:

Re: Sunflower seed rant.
Seeds as well as fishing line clog the pumps. As my deck is non skid it marks easy and I hate scrubbing black shoe marks off it. I suggest filling all possiable crew members black sole shoes with sunflower seeds and trying them up with small mono pieces.Mark

Sunflower seeds are just the terrestrial version of shad scales.

Yeah! I know what your talking about with the seeds, but you can't sweat the small stuff, I spent 2 hrs today cleaning up the mess from 3 days of Tuna fishing , & seeds are minimal compared to mess I cleaned up today,
Good Luck! on the 3rd, maybe I'll see you there.

Re: Sunflower seed rant.
I thought it took a pretty good pair od seeds to drag a little boat from Idaho and take it offshore for Tuna... Maybe 2 aught to be the limit on seeds

Re: Sunflower seed rant.
I guess for me Im the only sunflower cracker in my boat so im typically very cognent about dumping them overboard... and when I fish with my buddy on east side same story, I eat and he dosent. We typically dont bring too many buddies, or fish with others so Its not a big issue for me.
But on a fishing trip with others... well respect there boat rules

Re: Sunflower seed rant.
Thanks Ray . Remember.
Its not the size of the seeds that count,, (hiho) .
What really matters is ,,who's the capt.!
Hiho
