Default Slow for sturgeon

Launched today out of Scapoose and tried the MC and a little in the Columbia. Real slow for us all day, just a few shakers. A bunch of people in the MC, but few out in the Columbia. Didn't notice much of anyone doing well. This was my first time in this area, to do some exploring of new sturgeon water and scout the scene for springers, so it might of been slower for me than most. Tried some nice dropoffs and some flats off the main channel, but not much anywhere. Talked to some friends fishing the Willamette and it was slow for them also. So don't know if most of the fish have left to chase the smelt runs or if the bite was off or what. Good weather, if nothing else. Talked to some friendly i-fishers, sure good to meet new people.

Hi Fishitis,
Nice to meet you on the water today. Sounds like we did the same thing as you did. First scouted out some areas for springers for about 3 hours and then looked for some sturgeon. We seen a couple of boats with a couple of keepers each. For us we just ended up a catching a few shakers. That seemed to make our day. At least we were cathing.
