Default McIver park

Anyone have any advice on the upper ramp at McKiver Park? I checked it out this weekend and the rapids don't look that bad, stay to the right on the upper stretch and move to the left on the way down? Just looking for some input. I've been rowing a drift boat for 10 years and I'm not scared, just curious if I'm being over confident or not.

Anyone want'a go for a ride???

Steve's right...that big water right below the ramp is easy..the difficult part is the "Mine Field" about 1/2 to 3/4 mile below there. I haven't been thru that stretch for a year or two...but I'd imagine it could be trickier with the low water flows. If you go there..be prepared for the worst. It can be done...but unles you're way experienced...I wouldn't reccommend it.

At the current water levels it is a real boat banger, plan on getting out at some spots, or wait until the water gets to 12.2 or so...

Unless you have a drift boat and don't paricularly like it I wouldn't plan on going below Dog Creek we call it the Mine Feild, many many boulders sunken logs, if you have a sled and want to fish the area I would fish the first hole below the ramp, it is closed above the ramp and the locals will let you know in a hurry that tho hast trespassed on holy water...also keep the upper end of the hole open for the rest of the boats coming down...they will be coming like a bat out of hell... and can't manuver all that well until they almost hit the wall on the far side of the run.....I am from the old school of been there done that...Steve....P.S. It's spelled "McIver"

Steve, no real problems, bumped a couple of rocks but no big deal. The water looks great for steelhead if your into that kind of thing, for me it's salmon or bust! I do love trying new water and that is a beautiful drift!
