Thumbs up Boat running! HuntNFish ACES it!!!!!!

I can't believe it! HuntNFish (Mike) offers to look at my boat so I dropped it off at his place last night and he just pm'd me and told me he got it firing right up and purring like a cougar. What a stud- now, how do I pay him back? THANKS MIKE!!!! How about a goose hunt? Fishing trip? Maybe I could fix your boat motor in return!- NOT- he he. Dave

That is awesome! That is priceless to save a family trip like that. Dave, I am glad the family trip is saved and Mike, that was very selfless of you to give your time to help a fellow ifisher. Something that is seldom seen in this day and age.

Well I wish I could say I found something wrong.....but the truth is a quick check of connections, sensors, safeties and filters showed nothing wrong. All I can hope is that there was bad connection somewhere that was fixed by unplugging and plugging them back together. EFI engines are very complicated w/ lots of sensors, connectors and such to go wrong. But I suspected it was something simple. Just wish I knew WHAT it was.

Oh well, lets just cross our fingers and hope it doesn't happen again anytime soon. Dave, you need to fish it this weekend before we'll call it good to go. There could be a re-occurring problem. And having someone competent check the error codes on the ECU, might give a clue as to what happened.

I probably should check the voltage regulators...it's possible they may not be working and the battery voltage just was too low for the ECU to function properly. Charging the battery would mask that problem. I noticed the starting battery for the big motor isn't tied into the on board charger and if the regulator isn't charging it back up, starter and trim motor draw would eventually draw it down again.

Anyway, glad to see it running now. Just hate to hear of an IFisher talking of cancelling family plans because of motor issues.
Happy to help fix nothing.

My buddies boat is an efi 2000 merc, and sometimes if you dont hold your mouth right it will flood and then it is NOT going to start for an hour or more. Every second that motor doesnt start, the computer is still sending cold engine fuel amounts to powerhead, kinda reminds me of an old dodge I had! Glad you got it going fellas!
