Default Bowline knot alternative?

Last year I started learning how to tie many basic boat knots. I also played around. Obviously the Bowline is a bread and butter knot, but in my playing around, I stumbled upon a faster way to tie something that is like the bowline. Despite web and book searches, I have yet to see this knot described. On the way extreme chance that this is a new knot, I declare it to be the "Tommy Knot", otherwise I'm anxious to know what the knot's name is.

Form a loop:

Poke the bottom of the line up thru the loop:

Put the tag end through the second loop:

With confidence, pull the main line and a side of the loop apart (the yellow objects would be your hands):

After the loops seemingly invert from the pull-apart, the final knot forms:

Close-up of final knot:

The above pictures are exaggerated. In practice my left hand rapidly forms the loops, my right hand inserts the tag, and then a quick pull-apart sets the knot.

An alternate series is:

Interesting knot. I see how it works, can't say that I have seen it before.

I am not sure that it is that much simpler than out of the hole, around the tree, back down the hole, but it is neat that you came up with your own knot.

One of the best parts about a bowline is that it is pretty dang easy to untie. Is the Tommy-knot untieable?

Awesome nice job.......I haven't seen that one before either.......Congrats and a good job with the picture explanation of how to tie it. This is what makes this site so great...Folks going out of their way to show and explain new things that they come up with. Congrats and thanks.

I was showed this knot by one of my high school teachers about 4 years ago. He told me the name of it then but I dont remember it. He might have said it was a Bowline. I have been using it ever since. Most all the loops in the line on my boat use this knot.
