Recommendations on fishing in the LA area?

The fishing is starting to look good in the NW and I have to head south to visit my brother-in-law before he heads out to Iraq.

I'll be in the LAX area from June 30 to July 3rd and was looking at any recommendations where I should pick up a charter.

I was thinking of Davey's Locker? Any good or bad reports.

There were some complaints about Davey's locker a few weeks ago on Bloodydecks. Sorry, I can't remember what they were or offer any other info. Go check it out.

There has been a really good bite at Catalina Island for white seabass. That's were I'd head.

You're better off going out of Long Beach or San Pedro vs. Davey's in Newport (it's much closer to Catalina from the L.A. area 22 vs 30 miles, and on slow cattle boats that matters).

For a really nice experience, lookup the Dreamer out of Long Beach. That is a smaller style charter, but he is the white seabass master out at Catalina.
