New Sanctary-B allows gillnetting at mouth .
I finally got a chance to look at the New Sanctuary-B that will be in effect this Spring Salmon Season. According to the information I received from WDFW, the gill netters will be able to net the Warrior rock area due to changes made. The original Sanctuary-A covered from Bachlor Island to Warrior Rock and down stream about a mile (to mis lead people they changed the original sanctuary-A to read diffrent from last year). The new Sanctuary-B covers area along the Washington Shore starting At Buoy 79 (Washington side)and running to marker 4 (which is on the shore at the mouth of the Lewis River)than to the Green Can upriver of the Lewis. I hpoe you people who fish this area will complain to WDFW and get this changed.
We all know tht the early springer's rest in this area in mid to late march. I do not want to have to fish an area that has been cleaned out the night before by a net.It seems no matter what the general public wants, are so called represenatives, will still get what they want.
If no changes take place before the nets go in, I will write another post to let you know who was directly resposible for this change in Sanctuarys.I want to note that the sanctuary for other river mouths ( Kalama,Cowlitz, ect)Have changed also, but I have not been able look at them in detail. I will be more than happy to E-mail any one that would like a copy of this information from WDFW.
