Help me out! Willamette at Wisonville
Hi friends
I just took a new job out of Wilsonville.
I plan on taking my boat to work once or more per week. The problem is, I've never fished that area.
Where is the launch?
What are the good spots?
Is the river deep enough for a bass boat?
Thanks!! And...backseat is open!!

Re: Help me out! Willamette at Wisonville
I have only fished that strech of the river once and that way several years ago, so I can't help you with finding the best spots. I do know of at least one place to launch.
Merge onto I-5 S toward SALEM.
Take EXIT 282B toward CHARBONNEAU DISTRICT. 0.2 miles
Turn RIGHT onto NE BUTTEVILLE RD. 0.5 miles
Turn RIGHT onto NE BOONES FERRY LNDG. <0.1 miles
It is just behind Portland Marine Performance:
26177 Ne Boones Ferry Lndg, Aurora, OR 97002, US
I also work here in Wilsonville but usually fish out of Newberg or Salem. I know Snowball and other do fish around the Wilsonville area so I am sure you will not have much problem finding some help on local spots.
You might want to start with this thread. http://www.ifish.net/board/showthread.php?t=150785
Good luck and maybe we can get out on the water sometime.

Re: Help me out! Willamette at Wisonville
the river is plenty deep right there...the problem is all the recreational boaters. The wake is terrible during the summer. I havent explored that area very much. the places I did go were very, very, very slow. and this is one day after I had the best bass fishing ever. the best bet would be to find some shallow shelves or side channels. Cause we have hammered the banks up and down the area around the i-5 bridge with no luck. but just like anywhere else you are going to have spend some time out there to find the fish

Yes, plenty of bass water there. Just go fish and watch the shore and graph for signs of rock on shore and sunken ledges.
If you don't want to get on freeway and do the B.Ferry launch, you can sneek out the backside of WV and hit the Hebb Park Launch a few miles down river. That will put you close to the Mollalla mouth up river and Rock Island area down river.
Boat Escape: Hebb Park
Hope ya find some fish...I'm sure you will.

Go to Sportsman's Warehouse in Clackamas and talk to Gary Yexley. Great guy and knows that stretch of river like no other.

Re: Help me out! Willamette at Wisonville
yeah, hunt'nfish, that show was spectacular.
it was filmed in october - just for the record.
i was amazed at the fact that he was nailing them right there
at boone's landing launch, before even getting in his boat.
magic, if you launch at boone's you can safely run downriver
all the way to the falls, which i would guess to be 7 miles or so.
the only real hazard is just downriver of hebb park, where there
is a rocky shoal on your right as you run downriver. there are range
markers behind you there. so be aware of them...check out a river atlas.
similarly, you could run upriver all the way up to newberg,
which is about the same distance. motoring is largely a safe
operation in this stretch. but as some have mentioned the splashers
and gigglers are in there thick on good weather days. i pulled out of the
water early in the evening on tuesday - frustrated with the hordes of dingbats...
as others have pointed out, seek current seams, ledges...yada yada..
also, don't overlook the bridge pilings right there at the launch.
can be a good bet on occasion. maybe we can get out one of these days.

Exactly what Dave Said. Go talk to Gary at Sportsmans. He is the one who got a buddy and I hooked on that area. We have fished Charrboneau frequently now and have pulled out some very nice sized smallies.
