Sigh-Wash,
If anyone e-mails you without a reply on here, could you let me know? I have a wicker one that could use a little work too.
Thanks.
Tony

Hi SuperT,
Nobody has responded yet to my question about who fixes old creels, but I'll let you know if they do.

Several years ago I clipped an article from the Oregonian and stuffed it into an old split willow creel a friend gave me. The article is about Bill Lawrence and his resurrected business of recrafting creels. His grandfather started making creels before the turn of the century, so there's some interesting history there. The phone number listed in the article for Bill is 246-9922. I believe it's a Portland number.

Another source of information could be Gary Estabrook in Vancouver who used to collect old creels. I don't have a number for him.

The article was written by Bill Monroe. That's another contact which might be helpful.

Keep in mind, if you have an old creel, it may be worth more in original condition than in restored condition.

Pete- Thanks for the info about the creels. That was the exact article I was thinking about. I appreciate the response!

Drop Bill Monroe a line at NWBILL@aol.com.

Good luck on your creel projects. The old ones can be valuable, and the value nearly doubles if there's writing on the leather in the back.
