Default Memaloose Lake??

Where is this lake? I went there once, but a long time ago. I want to go back cuz its a short hike up to it, and my fiance can read on the banks while i fish for the little bitty trout in it...oh yeah, I can watch the salamanders "do it" too. Mainly, I just want to fish though....the fiance and salamanders are on their own.

Can anyone give me general directions from Portland?

THanks!!

If its the one I am thinking of,you go through Estacada and follow the river up past the resavor and take a right across the "Memaloose bridge" and follow that road way out there.
I would stop at the Ranger Station just as you get into Estacada and ask directions.
Good luck, and let us know how you do.

thats right. But as I remember, its quite a hike up off the winding road way back there. About 30-40 degree incline!! for quarter mile or so. Lots of little brookies, Thats up the south fork of the Clackamas if I remember correctly. Good luck.

I was interested in finding out more about this lake. I saw it on a map but it wasnt in my Fishing in Oregon book so I wasnt sure if it even existed, now that I know about it im really interested. Where can you get a newer forest map with the trail numbers to these lakes. Thanks a lot

I thought it was past Estacada...but couldnt remember exactly.

Yes,, its about a mile hike each way, and king of steep in parts, but not bad. The fish are small, but its a pretty area, and my old lady will like it. I'll let you know if I end up there tomorrow.

This lake does not exist. It is a figment of your imagination.

Don't let Tanner discourage you. I've had my best fishing days in my imagination.

Forest Road 45, turn right on Memaloose and follow 45, which is a loop around South Fork mountian to Hillock burn and Highway 211, at the back of the loop you will find Memaloose Creek, trail head. follow the trail, the brush sucks... you will find a nice little lake with easterns and cutthroats smaller dark flies like knat, wooly worm, yellow T.D.caddis and my favorite for that lake a wingless grey hackle...have fun and clean behind the guy ahead of you...Steve
