Default Rogue Steelhead Below Grants Pass

Fished the Rogue for Steelhead this am. We put the sled in at Robertson Bridge.
Hooked 7 and landed 3. Pretty pathetic ratio but had a good time.

Had a scary situation. After drifting the area by Jump-Off Joe Creek we started back upstream to do it again. I was standing near the Bow area of a 2002 Alumaweld Flatbottom Sled when we hit a submerged rock. Needless to say the boat stopped and I kept on going. First time I've been swimming this year. Luckily everything turned out OK. Both my buddies were knocked down also. It's no fun trying to get back in a boat when you have Long Johns, Levis and full Raingear on with Bog Boots.
I happened to have a change of clothes with me in the boat.

I can't stress how important life jackets are.
I had mine on although not clipped in properly.

WEAR YOUR LIFE JACKETS!!!!!

Oh, bad deal! It is cold both in and out of the water! Glad it was a happy ending.

Here's a bright little hen I got down at Rand on Friday. Caught one other, smaller yet. Both hatchery.

Sparse Gray Hackle,

The boat was fine. We were going slow. None of us saw the submerged rock even after all was said and done.
We were in the middle of the river about 250 yards downstream from Jump Off Joe Creek.

Glad that this was one you'll be able to tell about with a smile on your face -- well, almost.

Glad you were wearing your PFD. Bet it'll be fastened the next time.

. . . and, Straydog, I've seen a lot of pictures of steelhead this winter which looked, well, kinda skinny.

That one's a dandy!

Really glad you're o.k. RogueFisher. Water temp is not ideal for swimming.

I just got off the river...we boated four. We also didn't enjoy a great hooked/landed ratio today.

Did you get my e-mail about those hooks. I'm real interested.

Straydog, very nice fish. Get ready for more action, I just talked to my buddy in Gold Beach and he just had a 13 fish day in his boat.
