Default Cell phone warning

Thought some of you might fine this informing ??

Subject: cell phone warning

This lady has changed her habit of how she lists her
names on her mobile phone after her handbag was
stolen. Her handbag which contained her mobile, Credit
card, purse...etc.... was stolen. 20 minutes later
when she called her Husband, from a pay phone telling
him what had happened, hubby says "I've Just received
your text asking about our Pin number and I've replied
a little while ago."

When they rushed down to the bank, the bank staff told
them all the money was already withdrawn. The
pickpocket had actually used the stolen hand phone to
text "hubby" in the contact list and got hold of the
pin number. Within 20 minutes he had withdrawn all the
money from the bank account.

Moral of the lesson: Do not discl ose the relationship
between you and the people in your contact list. Avoid
using n ames like Home, Honey, Hubby, sweetheart, Dad,
Mom etc....... And very importantly, when sensitive
info is being asked thru texts, CONFIRM by calling
back. Also, when you're being texted by friends or
family to meet them somewhere, be sure to call back to
confirm that the message came from them. If you don't
reach them, be very careful about going places to meet
"family and friends" who text you.

PLEASE PASS THIS ON

FYI: Verizon will block all incoming/outgoing text messages if you don't want to use this feature.

Most first responders will look in your phone to notify family of your injuries. ICE (In Case Emergency) is the acronym they look for if you dont want to ID your close family names to anyone finding your phone. Strangers would have no idea who they were calling or your relationship.

The story is probably a myth, but probably a good lesson.

My phone does have "Home" so GOOD people can call me and say they found my lost phone! Otherwise it's just names, sometimes initials.

You hit the nail on the head. We do'nt text message, & always confirm who is asking for whatever.

Here is something else to dole out a little pay back.
To check your mobile phone's serial number, key in the following on your
phone:

star-pound-zero-six-pound ( * # 0 6 # )

and a fifteen digit code will appear on the screen. This is unique to your
handset. Write it down and keep it safe. Should your mobile phone get
stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code. They will then be able to block your handset, so even if the thief changes the sim card, your phone will be totally useless.
