Default Tuna and Salmon on board???

This topic was briefly discussed in the thread about barbless hooks and the OSP. On page 91 of the 2007 Oregon Sport Fishing Regs, under Offshore Pelagic Species, it states...

"Only offshore pelagic species may be in possession, and any other species caught must be immediately released while using these methods."

So my question is... If you catch Tuna, and on the way back in, as discussed in the above mentioned thread, you catch Salmon, I can see where a problem would arise.

The "methods" refered to are those that are only legal for off-shore pelagics. Examples include chumming, multiple lines/fisher. If you caught a salmon or halibut while fishing for tuna, yes you must let it go. But it common sense too, as possession of salmon means you can only fish one line per person. Who wants to limit themselves over a silly salmon?

Smoked Salmon nailed it.

You have to do things in order if you plan on doing multi-species fishing. If you would like to do salmon, halibut, and tuna without worrying about breaking the regs then you'll need to do them in reverse order. (tuna, halibut, salmon)

If you do them in the other order then you'll have to abide by the rules set forth for salmon for all the other species.

Or at least I think that's right?

I'm not gonna worry about the order, just the intent. When fishing Salmon, barbless and one pole per person, Tuna multiple poles etc. Seems ridiculous to get a ticket for having tuna gear on board while fishing for salmon.
