Kinda looks like there may be two sides to the issue.

I dont know the other side, but I would like to know why the jury decided on 900k punitive damages. Remember Sherwood?

Shame on several thousand other employers who do the same thing.

The only thing that makes it somewhat newsworthy is the 900K.

The law is: When you resign from a job to join the Service, that job will be waiting for you when your enlistment is over.

It's the law. Target broke the law. Damages where recovered.

end of story.

The punitive damages were for Targets retaliation of him contacting the National Guard, not for demoting him.

Abalone, that law is true for companies with 17 or more employees. Does not reflect on smaller business as they do not have the man power to supposedly cover for a person going into the service or for that fact injured on the job requiring a lengthy recovery time.

What Target did was wrong. Obviously more than 17 employees and multiple locations.

Under Oregon law, 60 percent of punitive damage awards go to the state's crime victim assistance fund.
That's just wrong also

The States always have to get their little grubby hands in on the action.
