Default Kicker advice.....

I did not have good luck last year with a garlick bracket and Yamaha 9.9HO kicker. I upgraded to well constructed solid bracket and a Yamaha 8 HO with elect tilt.

My question is going down the road on the trailer, do you have it all the way down or have it tilted up resting on the lock?

Thanks in advance.

I you have the clearance below the prop, trailer with it down. If not trailer it up resting on the trailering stops.

Well a couple of years ago i was out on the columbia crabbing and i gunned my kicker to come aroung to get a pot i missed and there was funny noise, next thing i noticed the kicker had punched a big hole in my stern. Water was rushing in, turned on bilge pumped told my buddys get that kicker off that bracket now. Didnt really care if they dropped it to the bottom. I started big motor but it has to warm up a little be for u can go. Well after the second time of it dying i was ready to shoot my flares and call 911 and the coast guard. Well u know what they the third time is the charm, got her started again kicked her into gear told everyone to hang on, put the petal to the metal and flew in left crab pots out got back to hammond took it to shop 1300 dollars later, they fixed her up. I always have the kicker on when i am boating but when traveling i take it off and lay in down in the back of my pickup and put in on bracket when i get to where i am going. I guess that situation scared the u know what out of me. So i always try to put the less stress i can of the bracket. Hopefully this will not happen to me again. Just my 2 cents worth. Because when u are trailering there is a lot of stress being put on the bracket.

If you can trailer it like this. If not use the plastic stop. Mark
