More Do It Yourself Info...........
Folks...as you may or may not know....I blew a piston on my 200Merc last Monday . In researching my "options" I came across a neat website for looking into your motor problems.....I don't know how to paste the link here..(I'm a computer dummy)....but it's called Iboat.com.....they have a BB formatted just like this one....you might wanna check it out...and if any of you computer whiz's out there wanna tell me how to paste a "link"...I'd like to know...and maybe there are other dummies like me that would like to know too!! Check it out!!! Mark...P.S....my bro-in-law is a Merc mechanic in Pennsylvania...and he says I should be able to either rebore or resleave the cylinder, along with installing a new piston...and I should be good to go. So here's my next project. Shouldn't be too bad...I yanked the crankshaft out of it about 5 or 6 years ago..so I'll be a little more familiar with the dis-assembly this time around. Now I'm off to the Public Library to check out their Mercury Shop Manual. www.boatmotors.com

Mark
Sounds like you were showing off that new boat coating last night, and I missed it.
I went to iboat.com and could not find the discussion board, but then again I am also computer challenged.
To post a link to a site, just type in the address with a www. in front of the address and it should show up as link when you post it. My test is www.iboat.com

Hey...didn't I say I was a "DUMMY"?? By the way...do you have a gas gauge in your boat??
If not...they're not too bad to install.

Re: More Do It Yourself Info...........
Waterdog....hopefully your motor will never go "Kaput". This BB is for engine troubles. I kinda glanced over the posts...and even found one relating to my problem. If anyone out there is having motor malfunctions...this looks like a good place to go. I know....as if we all don't spend enough time here!!

Re: More Do It Yourself Info...........
Mark - if you are rebuilding the motor, I know who wears the pants in your house. And after you told me a little sweet talk, and a box of candy for the wife would put a new motor on the boat. I guess the honeymoon is over!!
I got a gas gauge, just no reason I was aware of to read it. When I start from dry, $70.00 didnt fill it up. OUCH!!
I still want to see the boat. And the motor in pieces might be a lesson also. Maybe Sunday or after work next week.

Re: More Do It Yourself Info...........
FM,
I hope I never have to go through that. But, a guy (or gal) can certainly learn a lot. That site will definitely go in my favs. Good luck on the rebuild.
Bait, you know how to read?
