Leaving the dock at 0430. Run to the ranch and get our halibut, then head NW to find the tuners  Hewesfisher or Coastalfisherman on VHF 78.

I will be there for the halituna with retaliate sounds like were leaving the dock out of newport at 5:00 to the ranch for halibut and then the tuna let the carnage begin

Id planned on going tomorrow but things changed so thurs looks good. Only problem is that if there is tuna to be had I dont no that my boat will stop at the ranch!:grin: Have to see!

I and a friend are headed to the ranch and then on for my first tuna trip tomorrow, Thursday. What channel do you guys talk on? I would like to stay in contact. My name is Steve Arnold. My boat is a gray HewesCraft with a white stripe and is called Arnolds Ark. I will be launching my boat out of Newport at about 4:45 Thursday. I hope to see you out there.

C&E, you guys are so lucky. I'm 17 hours away from the launch! After my first tuna trips last year, fishing around here just isn't that exciting anymore.

We ended up turning around and coming and catching a limit of rockfish. We made it 12 miles offshore and there was steep swells and lots of sheep. There are better days coming and we will take advantage of them.

Wow, these reports of sporty seas really surprise me. Wet sands looked pretty good for today. Only negative I can see is the swell period being 7 seconds. Maybe that's what the problem was. Anyway, I'll earn my arm chair meteorology degree some day.
