Oversize Pics
Sorry it took me so long to scan these pictures but I am just now learning how to do all of this! I can not seem to get the pictures uploaded onto the website so I created a website and posted the pictures there.
null Try this and tell me if it works. The website is at http://gladstone.uoregon.edu/~cherman/sturgeon.bmp if it does not work...
The first three pictures are of the ten footer that we got. We only had eight pictures left on the camera so we were forced to assume that we were not going to catch anymore and took advantage of the photo opportunity.
The fourth picture is of one of birdhunter's friends fighting his first Oversize! The next one is of Birdhunter battling the same fish...It was Birdhunter's first oversize as well!!! The next one is of me Coot22 fighting the bruiser.
The last two pictures are closeups of the fish that we got that afternoon. The first one is of me rubbing the belly of the ten footer and the last picture is of Birdhunter kissing Mildred (the given name from Birdhunter...she was about 7-8 feet). Hey Bird...that is the prettiest girl you have kissed yet!!!
It was great getting people into there first oversize. The look on their faces the first time that they see those huge gatorbacks is a moment that will always be treasured. It was a great day with four bites, three hookups and two to the boat...not to mention about thirty shad!!! Birdhunter and Sam are always welcome back out with me...hey Birdie...how does this weekend sound?!!! Thanks Bird for helping me run the boat and for being anchor boy for the day!
I hope you guys enjoy the pics!!!
-Cody

Re: Oversize Pics
Coot, pics work much better on the web if they are saved not as a bitmap, (.bmp) but as a jpg, jpeg, or gif.
Try that! These extensions mean that they are compressed for the web and they are much faster to dowload. .bmp are great pics, but usually too large for the web.
Jpg was developed by the Joint Photographers expert group and is the best for live, outdoor pics. gif is best for still color drawings, etc. You can also animate gifs and not .jpg.
Try it though! Just look for the extension when you are saving it in your art program. Betya it's there!

I dunno if she's the prettiest girl I ever kissed, but she never talked back.
She did try to slap me a time or two now that I think about it.
Good pics. I'll talk to you later tonight.

Re: Oversize Pics
Great shots! If your crowd likes catching things like that, I've got a few places out here you could try for crocs in the 7-10' range. (I'm waiting for the belly-rub and/or kiss photos -- but you'd better be quick on the shutter or else it won't be a very pretty picture.)

Re: Oversize Pics
Hi Coot & Birdhunter,
Nice pics. Hope to see you both out on the river having another fun weekend. As the mama I have just one question... is your work done? Finals are in two weeks. Then you are free to fish, catch fish, kiss fish, talk about fish, talk to others who fish about all of the above. You've got the "picture".
The mama

Re: Oversize Pics
Nice pics Cody. Not many better or healthier recreations in life. Tell Mama that I said, 'for every minute a young man fishes that's one less minute he is doing something else'. Whatever that is (I just made it up) - if it's less studying, then you are busted. ...
And Birdman, I can still picture you sitting so dignified near the head of the big corporate conference table at the campus MU building during the Beaver Fishing Club meeting - and now I have this pic of you kissing a sturgeon. Will the reel Birdman please stand up? jk. BTW, I can have 'Yall e-mail you some tips on how to kiss fish without getting slapped (hint: most things he's able to kiss can't move).

Re: Oversize Pics
Now there's a face only a mother could love!
Nice pics. They don't give the sense of the hour long battle or screaming reel like a video does. I tried for years to explain the fascination with the 'Poor man's Marlin to my Florida Keys cohorts. Finally I mailed them a VHS tape. Every time we talk on the phone now they want to book a sturgeon trip.
I think they got the picture!
