Sandy River Report (2/7)
Today was one of those R&D (Research & Development) days. I've heard of the Pipeline hole so I decided to check it out myself. After about a 10 minute hike, I finally realized why people called it a pipeline hole. There's a long pipeline going across the river. I got a late start today (around 9am). Saw about 8 people fishing the hole. Most of them were drifting corkie w/ sandshrimp. After attending the NW Steelhead meeting this week(Sandy Chapter), I decided to try my luck w/ bobber and jigs. Nada. No confidence in it, yet. So I switched to corkie/yarn combo. Nada. I'm not a beginner but I'm not a novice either. I guess I'm somewhere in between. I landed my first winter steelhead in December and since then, nada. But I managed to hook 6 but only landed one.
I heard of few being caught early in the morning. When I was about to leave, I saw a guy walking up the river w/ a bright winter steelhead. I could see the envy in everyone's eyes, especially mine. He said he was using corkie/yarn combo.
Well, I still enjoyed the day today.
Tight Lines Ya'll!!!!!
Alan
