Default Fishing with my Father / Williamson River

In one week may father (85), two brothers and myself are going fly fishing with a local K-Fall guides, floating the Williamson or other rivers or lakes. Father is frail and our upcoming host understand this. It is arranged that where ever the fish are, that's will we try to be. We have good accomendations.

He taught me how to fly fish on Fall River (or tried too). He saw my casting on the Deschutes back a couple years and I recieved a compliment...from the old man.

Just letting everyone know, take your Dad Fishing...even if it is not Father's Day

Good for you and welcome aboard, Oregon Native.

It's a great time of year on those southern waters. Good luck to you!

I had the reverse situation with my dad. I became a fly-addict on my own. Only after he retired did I have the chance to introduce him to the sport. We had several opportunities to fish some world-class waters together. It's those memories that will be with me this weekend in particular. I wish fate had given us more years to build our friendship.

You should have a wonderful day. I'm sure your guide will be prepared, but make sure you all stay hydrated. That high desert can sneak up on you because the humidity is so low. Even on a hot day the persperation seems light but relentlessly steady.

I don't know how the conditions are down there now but you just may make it in time for the hex hatch. It won't hurt to have a few emergers and big yellow spinners.

Good luck and enjoy. I lost my Dad and fishing mentor when he was 57 but I think of him every time I'm out there.
