Oysters and clams @Tillamook Bay.
We went clamming at Tillamook bay along with 10,000 other people. each time I came up on someone I would say "ifish"? Each and every time their response was "aye-fish-ya-ya". Anyways there was plenty to go around. Looked like most people, kids, grannys, and dogs dug their limit.
Here is my question: While we were crossing in about waist deep water an Oyster got stuck in my buddy's rake. As I understand all Oregon Oysters are private property. I did'nt see an Oyster farm anywhere around the pier and there were no posted "lost or found signs". How is the rightful owner going to harvest that Oyster? Do you think he knows his poor Oyster was lost. Shame on him. Should I have returned it? If you lost something you would want me to return it, and I would.
We put the Oyster back to avoid a ticket, but I think next time I will collect as many of those poor lost babies and try to find thier owner. If that doesn't work I suppose I'll have to try to find them a good home. I may even start an Oyster refuge as this looks to be a huge problem. Loose Oysters out there multipling at free will with nobody keeping them under control. This is whats wrong with our society today.
BTW, OSP was on the scene checking bags.
