Default Suckers are worth $2 at the Wind River!

True story.

I was fishing below the falls on the Wind River at a place called the "Big Eddie" on Friday. The first realy big eddie before the falls. After a while, I hooked a rather large sucker . As I brought the sucker up to my feet to be released, this dude next to me yells out "You gonna release that squaw fish? You can get $4 from the Game Department for every squaw fish you catch."

"Oh really", I said, thinking he was yanking my chain. "This here is a Wind River Brown Trout", I told him.

"No it's not. It's a squaw fish! I'll take the fish, if you don't want it." he said. "Ok", I exclaimed, "You can have it for $2.".

"Awesome!", he bellowed and handed me two bucks for this sucker.

I honestly was dumbfounded. I literally had to sit down or I was going to faint from holding back my laughter. I honestly can't believe some one gave me $2 for a sucker, thinking it was a squaw fish.

Unbelievable, but really is a true story!

There's a sucker born every ....

Couldn't resist!

I believe that this transaction was not strictly legal but the area seems to be a place to let your inner child (Bart Simpson) run free.

Some people are just morons. I saw one guy at Bonneville Dam fish ladder calling shad "sockeye salmon". I told him that they were shad and he ignored me. A few seconds later I heard him tell his wife and kids that I was "misinformed".

Hey, did ya hear that they are opening a season on flying fish at Green Lake? I hear that they are worried about them building nests in the trees and interfering with the protected snipes. hehehe
