Re: Anyone try for springers today?
Went out on a trib. of the CR in a friends boat. 25lb springer in the box,I think that might be a record for me. Oh my boys and girls, this is going to be a steller year for springers,I can feel it in my bones.

Re: Anyone try for springers today?
I heard of one nice 20+ pounder caught in the Milwaukie area trolling an Orange Wiggle Wart near Waverly.

Re: Anyone try for springers today?
Skunked. Trolling the Columbia south of the Willamette looking for the first springer of the year.
But it wasn't for trying. Put in about 4 hours before we gave up and went to mess around with shaker sturgeon.
And while there wasn't a single fish that went home with us, it was still an excellent day with my Dad.

Re: Anyone try for springers today?
Landed a small native springer today near Columbia City on a wrapped Kwikfish! Forgot about the picture in hurrying to get him unhooked and back swimming. If I can catch a springer Feb 8, it's got to be a good season!

Re: Anyone try for springers today?
Spoke with a gentleman at Freds today around 1:30. One in the box. Said he saw one seal and during the time he was out there the seal had 2 springers. They're coming.

Re: Anyone try for springers today?
Two sealions hung out by our boat all day. We seemed to catch more than they did.

Re: Anyone try for springers today?
We fished the last 3 hours, or so, of the outgoing tide, fishing four rods each having a lucky, veteran wrapped-Kfish on it. Tried two spots, but other than a bump, it was zippo for us.
The sealion did no better.

Re: Anyone try for springers today?
Jan had one tug on a non-wrapped no-scent Kwikie. Springer status has gone from others catching..to ....someone I know catching a clipped fish.
The tension builds...
