Default Boat Tops

I am thinking about getting a top for my Alumaweld Super Vee. It already has the snaps and mounts for the bracket. How is the Fishermans Top Stevens sells? I think they want $750 for it. Bentleys on McLaughlin is about the same cost. What do you recommend?

I'm not familiar with the top Stevens sells, and in my opinion Bentleys is a little expensive. I had Jerry's Upholstery make a top for my old boat, and was quite happy with the price and the work. He's located between Gresham and Sandy, and is listed in the phone book.

The top he made for me was made with Sunbrella, but I think he'll make about anything you want.

Carol's Canvas is a place you might check out as well. They are over by Marine drive and Delta park.. In the phone book as well.

rags, N.W. Boat Tops out of Sherwood. The guy's name is Jeff, he worked for Stevens for about 7 or 8 years. He built the top for my Super Vee last year, the guy is a perfectionist, everything top notch. He just sent me a price list for his new business, $710 for a 21' boat. 503 925 8788.

I second Jerry's, a good friend had a fancy full top made for his 22' Bayliner and 3 years later it still looks good. If I recall correctly the price was the lowest he could find anywhere. The canvas work was top notch.

He is located on Kelso Rd. on hwy 26 on the way to Sandy.

I know Bentley's is expensive...but I think they did an excellent job on my top. They put re-inforcing in areas where the material would wear (like where rodholders would be under the cover, or vents...or anything your top might rub against on the inside.) For me..I'll pay a little bit more and go nowhere other than Bentley's. Also...I had Vinyl before...got what they call TOP GUN this time....and the TOP GUN is the best!!

I'll be going back to Bently's for the third time this afternoon for more warranty work. I like this top except the tube ends were not crimped right and popped out scratching the paint on this new boat. Have had multiple buttons come apart and a zipper problem.

My current slant back cover on my NR was made by Bentley's and other than the fact it didn't fit and had to be adjusted when I got the boat, it is holding up well. It's made of Top Gun which I recommend. I had Waagmeester Canvas Products do a bow cover on my last boat and he did an excellent job and at a very good price. His # is 288-6591 and they are on Alberta in NE Portland. I must also mention that I recently had a sleeper cushion made by Norma at Norma's Boat Tops out on SW Locust in Tigard - 293-0835. Bentleys wanted $225 to make the cushion and Norma did it for $80 and it turned out beautiful. I'm not sure if she is as competitive with her boat tops, but I'd give her a call if you are looking for a bargain.

rags, Stevens did mine three years ago. Top notch job, good quality material, and have had no problems what so ever. Would go back for another one in a heartbeat.

My new Alumaweld has a top made of 'SEAMARK' material by the 'Sunbrella' people. Its really nice stuff. The fasteners etc. are all heavy duty stainless and the fit is perfect. However, I'm not sure if the guys at Stevens built this or if it comes from the factory. My guess is that it is rather expensive....However, I'm sure I got a really good price on it with my boat package
