Default Bow mount electric trolling motors

I was wondering if many of you out there are using bow mount electric trolling motors? This year I put on a 24Volt Minnkota auto pilot and just love it for trolling and backbouncing. I fish with the kids alot and need to help them and the autopilot really helps to take your hands and eyes off the water for a few minutes while you fuss with things. The quiet is an extra bonus ,too.

Good choice Mojo,
When I'm chasing walleyes or fishing at night for steelies I swear by it. I have the remote wireless. I don't understand why they stopped making them. I just don't like cords.

An electric trolling motor is one of the accessories that I don't have for my sled. Are they strong enough to push a 19' Alumaweld?

SjP, the secret is it will pull, not push your sled along. A 65 lb. thrust is more than enough to do the job. Make sure you get a long enough drive shaft. (60 inch). One problem is the motor mounts where the anchor rig goes. Minn kota makes a retractable slide mount. Cabela's is a good source.

SjP,
The Minn-kota I use is a 48 pound
thrust model. It pulls my 20' sled
very easily. I have two plates on my
bow. When I want to anchor I slide my
motor out and slide my anchor plate
in. It has a roller and clamshell
mounted to it. Real nifty setup.
