Default Fishing Vancouver Island

I'm thinking about driving up to Vancouver Island and fishing and would like to know were the best places to fish and stay on a low budget. The places I'm thinking are Campbell River, Ucluelet, Alberni Inlet and Barkley Sound. Saltwater and freshwater.
Thank you Larry

Ucluelet can be a productive, low cost spot. You can stay at any one of about 4 basic motels and there is a commercial campground for tents or rv's. For fishing you can jig fish on party boats running out of the Canadian Princess resort for about $100 cdn for a 6 hour salmon trip or $60 cdn for bottom fish. Also, Island West runs a fleet of 27' salmon, halibut combo charter boats that go offshore, good if you have 3-4 fishermen to split the cost, you can really load up the cooler. Decent fishing for all species pretty much all summer. About a 3 hour drive from Victoria.

SS2,
The places I would recommend would be the areas around Port Mcneil and Port Hardy.A little longer drive but you definitely leave some people behind this way. Port hardy has a great campground called the Quatse River Campground. It is operated by a fishing group that uses the proceeds to operate a hatchery. The fishing can be awesome and the area is great for smaller boats. If your boat is larger, some make the run from PH to Rivers Inlet over a a few days and then run back. have never done this but the fish I saw come back were huge. If you need further info let me know.

Did the Canadian Princess thing 2 years ago in June. Had a pretty good time, wasn't the best chinook fishing at that time. Did get some nice halibut though, using an 8 oz. jig in about 150 ft. of water! What a change from the Oregon coast fishery!! The facilities were very, very nice and with the exchange rate it wasn't too bad cost-wise. Right now it's about 65%. Beautiful place, very nice people that seemed to genuinely appreciate your spending your money with them.

Heading up to Ucluelet in August with my own boat, have reservations to stay at Island West Aug. 5th - 11th. Planning on salmon and halibut fishing. Would really appreciate any tips as well, maybe some GPS numbers or leads on charts and such?

I have not been to the Campbell river area personally, but have been told it has become quite populated and commercialized, not really what I'm looking for in a vacation.
