Default OOOOOOVERSIZED!!!!

Well I don't know about anyone else but I had a great Memorial Day weekend. Got into two big beautiful oversized sturgeon with Coot and another friend on Sunday. Went shad fishing in Camas in the morning and landed about 20 in two hours. Coot had a fun time w/ a double on one rod. Thought for sure he had a springer or something huge. Then went over and sturgeon fished near sundial. No good. Missed one oversized and never had another bite for a couple of hours of fishing. Saw some other guys knocking the snot out of keepers and made some good mental notes about their location. We moved around a bit before trying some more shad fishing. Got done with that and went back down-river to try for more oversized.

Set up in a likely spot with our fresh shad and within 30 minutes hooked into our first fish. We fought that beauty for 55 minutes and she measured right around ten feet. Great fight, great fish. Had to pour water on the reel and everything. Took us from the towers down to Chinook Landings. Took some pictures, recorded her tag number, gave it a few kisses and let the fish go. Motored back up to our spot and within another half hour hooked another oversized sturgeon. This one was only 7 1/2 feet long, but it fought just as hard. Another hour and another drift from the towers to chinook landings. We brought it up to the boat 6 times before we were finally able to unhook it. When we did a family in a ski boat who had been following our progress for a while gave us a standing ovation. Very cool.

Had to go in about then to take care of some errands in the afternoon but I can't wait for the next time. Just a really cool day. By no means was fishing really hot. We might have seen one other boat fighting an oversize as we were drifting down (we were otherwise occupied and w/out specs), but that was it. Lucky us I guess. Thanks again to Coot for being such a great host and boat operator. It was definately a day to remember.

birdie,

The pictures turned out great. I am going to scan them and see if I cant get them onto the board. The lady who developed my pictures was very impressed with the quality of the pictures as well as the quality of the fish. The best picture by far is of you kissing that 7.5 footer right on her snout. I dont know if mildred liked that too much. I intend on hopfully being back up here next weekend. Maybe we can do it again. I am working on getting a digital camera. That would make scanning obsolete and it would save me big bucks on developing. Ask Todd what camera he has...it looked pretty nice. As soon as I get those pictures scanned i will send them to you via email. Hope you like 'em!!!

Right On Fellers!!!
Ain't that some fun? I'm going to try to get out next weekend for some hogs, take my Dad and Erik. Sounds like maybe I'll have to try your area sometime, would be nice not to have to go near the fishery. Anxious to see some pics. Well done!

I'll send you an email about the camera thing coot.

Had a successful Paulina Lake trip, gonna post the details here in a bit.
