More anchor questions???

How do you all tie the safety chain to the top of your rocker anchors? For that matter, what type of anchors are you all using? I am using a 26lb easy anchor for my 23 ft sled and it takes two zip ties doubled to hold the safety chain to the top eye of the anchor without breaking in normal conditions in current and 80 feet of water. A single tie doubled over will break. I have 300 feet of line, large ball and had nearly all the line out. Your suggestions and comments appreciated!!!

we use 2 of the black zip ties, the mid sized ones about 3/16" or so wide

All zip ties are rated for poundage. You should be able to get a higher rated zip tie to avoid constant breakage. Check with Platt or some other electrical supply shop for different weights.

Zip ties break too soon, I prfer to use 2 loops of Dacron ( sturgeon leader). I always have it on hand and it seens to break at the right time.

I have fished with a buddy that uses ties and he usally has to re zip tie each pull.

PTJD, I use a zip tie rated at 75 lbs. I buy them at fishermans marine and use them on a 35 lb. anchor. I have never had one break. I do change the tie about every 5th trip just to take care of deteriation. The anchor is a little heavy for my boat which is a 16 foot aluminum but i went thru three anchors befor i finally got one that would grab the bottom every time.

The local NAPA auto parts store has some really heavy duty ones...I'm not sure what they're rated at...but they work great for me..and MY anchor would hold the "Queen Mary."
