If I was doing it in my shop I wouldn't be spraying. Mainly because I don't have the room to set up the proper area. You can still get a great finish though doing it yourself. Take the doors off the hinges first off. You shouldn't do any finish work with them installed in place. My preference is for a good pigment based stain from Sherwin Williams that will not fade. It's what I've had the best success with. Get a couple sawhorses on a drop cloth, some good latex gloves with a nice soft lint free cloth and go to work. Whatever you do, don't do this in direct sunlight!! You won't be able to wipe it down at all as it will get very tacky. Once the doors have set for at least 24hrs. I like Varathane as a top coat. My favorite being their waterbased line for ease of cleanup and durability. This can be brushed on in multiple light coats with minimal sanding between coats. You'll end up with a finish you'll be very pleased with! Hope that helped some! Have fun and good luck!
