Default Used/New boat motor

I have gotten the go ahead from the boss to purchase a newer or new motor. Having never owned anything newer than 1970 I have a few questions. Can you deal with the boat shops on their motors or is their asking price their price? What shops should I look at for a 10-18 hp motor either new or preferablly used but made in the 90's. Thanks in advance for any advice and double thanks to the only guy on the river who didn't waive at me today while I was working on my motor but stopped and gave me a tow in.

You sound like your looking for the best deal for the lowest price, preferably used. I'd check out all the prices from all locations. And I mean everyone. I'd also only buy a Mercury or Yamaha. Your choice of horsepower is right at 15hp. I'd purchase a 15 hp four stroke. Every price is negotialble. Just because the boat shows are over doesn't mean you can't get boat show prices. I'm sure someone here recently purchased a 15hp and can give you the current price.

good luck,

hook
