Mecca Report
I hit the D around Mecca last Saturday afternoon and evening and had a fabulous outing. The drizzly cloudy weather kept the fish rising all day. I managed to hook a couple dozen redsides....a majority of them on salmonfly dries.
In addition to the salmonflies, the fish were also rising to smaller bugs during the early afternoon. It was quite a smorgasboard out there.... I saw salmonflies, golden stones, yellow sallies, PMDs, PEDs, BWOs, 2-3 species of caddis, and of course some midges.
I stopped in Maupin on Sunday morning for a couple hours and managed a few on golden stone dries. There were still a few adults left above Maupin but they are becomming sparse. I definately had to work harder for them then I did in this same stretch last weekend.
I keep telling myself I need to break out the spey rod for summers but those big slobs laying under the alders keep me a commin back for more!
