Default Pflueger Reels? Izorline?

I was just given a Pflueger Trion as a gift and put 12lb. Izorline co-polymer line on it. I have no experience with either (historically, I'm more into A5500 reel/Ultragreen line).

Can anyone tell me about the performance of either this line or reel, that are new to me?

(Besides the obvious, "if you catch fish, they work!")

Not sure if you have a baitcaster or a spinning reel.

I have both. I'm on my second baitcaster, first one got a little rough and the second one the drag was kind of sticking. I'm not sure if I got a couple lemons or not, I hope so I really like them. Retailer took care of me and said it was rare to see them come back. I love the performance, it's smooth as silk! I've never owned a Curado BSF but many of the guys at the sporting good stores claim the Pflueger is very comparable.

The spinning reel is awesome. Never a problem and smooth as silk.

No experience with the line you got.

Good luck. I'd like to get some feedback after you give yours a workout.

The Trion is a baitcaster and you're right, smooth as silk and fast retrieve (6.3:1). Haven't fish with it yet, so who knows about drag performance.

I've heard they are great and a good price but that you can't get parts very easily. :depressed:

My experience with the pflueger Trion baitcasters.

2 weeks before christmas 2003, after talking with 3 buddies who each own curado's and had purchased the Trions a week or 2 earlier, ribbed me until I purchased a Trion myself.

Over the next 3 weeks due to snow, ice, and work I made it out 9 times and began to have problems with the drag and when fighting a fish or in a hookset the drag failed misearbly and I was using power plus green 20#. I returned to where I purchased it reciept in hand and after they respooled it, checked the drag and tried to re-create the drag issue it passed the tests. I asked the manager to put it on a rod and give it a load test via a simulated hookset.
He did so, and I asked him to set the drag for a fairly tight drag and he did so making it pretty firm..handed me the rod and grabbed the end of the line..I made a very casual hookset and the drag failed..rod went behind my head striking the overhead display behind me...He said "OH..I SEE" and I made the upgrade to a Curado.

One of the other guys depressed the thumbar release and it wouldn't re-engage after a months use 2hrs a morning(lives on a river).
He returned it no questions asked and 2 days later the NEW reel had drag issues..wouldn't stay engaged when a load was put on it via a fish or hook set..he was using 30# power pro yellow. returned it and made the upgrade to a curado which he owns 4 of.

another of the crew had his drag do the same..it was either to tight or to loose and whenever setting a hook or fighting a fish the drag would loose all resistance and acted as if in freespool..he returned the reel and made the upgrade to a Curado.
The Trions cast like a dream but I believe some sort of upgrade to the drag washers or design needs to be addressed, hope yours works flawlessly, they are sweet when they work.

Love my Curado it is SWEET!!

I can't reply on the reel as I never used one.
But Izorline is the best bang for your buck out there PEROID!!!

It works great on both spinning reels and baitcasters, low stretch and very low memeory.

I've been pleased with Izorline but switched back to Stren or Sufix DNA due to being able to see it. I bought a spool of Hi Vis Izor 14 lb. and it handles really well on the baitcaster.

I talked to FSHKLR about the Trion and saw he upgraded to the Curado. I love my BSF. No issues yet after numerous silvers and steelhead.

Try the izorline in platinum, best line out there. You can get it at the pro-cure shop here in Salem.

I used my Trions in Brazil for peacock bass. They landed more than 100 with absolutly no problems. I love them. Don't know of many fish that will test a drag any more than peacocks.

Izor is a great line, every bit as good as Ultragreen, maybe thinner. The hi-vis is vitrually identical Sufix Supreme, with the Sufix generally cheaper (e-angler's website is the easiest source).
