Default Sturgeon Pauls Sardines

Saw Sturgeon Pauls sardines at the show and they look great. Problem is, they want to sell a box of 50 packs (3 per pack) only. I'd like to get a few packs, but I don't need 50.

Is anyone going to buy a box and split it up?

You might consider getting your sardines at Uwajimaya's in Beaverton. It's a very large asian foods store. I was in there last weekend and they had plenty of FRESH Sardines. I asked the manager in the meat department if they planned on carrying them fresh all the time and he said he hoped and planned to. These were very nice sardines. They also carry plenty of them frozen and those were a very high qualtity as well. Even the frozen sardines were much better than you'll find in the "usual places".

If you are in the Astoria area there are places where you can get a case(about 60 sardines per case) for 15.00. A friend of mine was in the area so we split a case. They are frozen but look really fresh. I'll try and find out what the name of the place was and post it.

The name of the place in Astoria is Fergus McBarendse Co. at 80 Eleventh Street. It is right at the end of the wharf.

I can testify to the quality of the previously frozen sardines from Uwajimaya. They work just fine.

Uwajimaya also has good prawns if you cure your own.

I do know that Paul actually took his comercial vac packer right down to the docks and packed 'em right there off the boat. They then went right into to blast freezers of the packing plant and were flash frozen within minutes of the boat.

Talk about quality

Fin and I are buying 50 of the packs. They look fantastic. They actually have tails and fins. I had gotten to thinking that sardines maybe didn't have tails (urck), but they do! Watch out springers!!!

They are 3-packs, $2.50 per pack, times 50 equals $125 for all. That's not bad for the season if a couple of guys to go together. They are beautiful.
