Nice looking rig, Baltz. Is that the long or short bed...can't really tell from the pic.
You didn't want the crew cab?

Re: The New hunting rig, (picture)
when i filled the tank in lapine on the way home unleaded regular was $0.55 cents a gallon more than diesel. that should explain why i did not buy the ford v10. but doherty ford did try to find me one. they found three inside 400miles but none fit my specifications. this truck i have to change the mirrors, add steps and a brake control. it was on the tss lot in bend and i got a fair price on it. same as the fords but with a diesel 5.9 cummins. 4x4, standard cab long bed, limited slip, air, cruise, power seat 40-20-40, 4 speed auto

Re: The New hunting rig, (picture)
My old man just bought one of those, he got the long bed crew cab with tthe cummins and 6spd manual. He accually let me take it for a spin when it had less than 1000 miles on it:grin:  All I have to say is it has way more power than I should ever have at the disposal of my right foot. I was getting good rubber easing into it in 3rd! Since he bought it he got the front leveling kit and added 18" rims and 33" goodyear MTR's. He could fit 35's under it but opted for the smaller 33"s. He better be careful or it might come up missing here soon!! Nice truck, you will be pleased you went with what you did, especially when your out pulling the powerjoke up that huge hill!!

Good choice on engine. From what I gather from the research I was able to do the new 6.7 hasn't been as fuel efficient. I just upgraded to a 3500 w/the old engine myself. We'll be looking good at Summer Lake this Fall.

Re: The New hunting rig, (picture)
the old 91ford is not a power stroke, but if someone gives me $3000 for it, i'll sell it. 7.3 nonturbo f250 king cab long bed, 4x4, tracloc rear diff, two sets of 255-85-16 mounted, recent radiator, injector pump, transfer case, just serviced the trans (e4od) 250,000 miles.

3000 miles to alaska, the delivery fee might be a little steep. but if the tag is drawn i'll try to save some steens mud for you. fitted a set of chains today, just one more set to go

Re: The New hunting rig, (picture)
That's a nice truck, congrats.
I have a 2002 cummins auto with 98k miles and it's been a sweet ride all the way, no problems.
The only problem I see is that truck is to NICE to get down and dirty for a hunting rig.

Re: The New hunting rig, (picture)
If you aren't picky on color, CL is pretty good on the canopys. I bought mine for $300 when we moved up, and it's easily a $900 canopy. Perfect shape, just silver instead of black. If you keep them dirty enough, nobody will notice You gotta be quick though, the good deals fly off there. Tires are tough. I just paid a kid $80 to take the studs out of the M55s that I bought. Need to find another set of truck tires, but all my money goes to toys for some reason.

Man, those first scratches in the paint really hurt. After that though... piece of cake! I'm aiming to keep my truck till it don't go any more.

Hunting Rig?
Where are the sage brush scratches, dents, mud and bug splatters, dried blood stains, stray bird feathers, deer and elk hair, wads of coffie cups and egg mcmuffin wrapers in the front passanger foot well. I bet the inside smells like new car, no wet dog smell or hair. You get back to me when you get those accessories installed then we can call it a hunting rig.
Otherwise

Re: The New hunting rig, (picture)
im still trying to break in mine. Its got a few scratches so far, nothing big. I gouged the front bumper real good twice now. Surprised its still on there, I ripped the bumper cover clean off my last truck. Only a matter of time, scratches add character!!!

The Dodge Rams aren't available with the Allison, thats GMs baby.
The Cummins already has serious torque. It'll pull anything that trucks rated for with ease.

My bad. Gramps had a 2002 duramax with an allison before he got his dodge. the chev crapped out on him halfway to alaska in the middle of the yukon. YIKES! it was a lemon and the factory took it back. few years later he got the dodge. It has a six speed manual, but you are correct, its not an allison. either way its a beast and so is your truck baltz.
you can pull ANYTHING with that dodge. Gramps pulls a 36ft? trailer all over the place and gets 21 mpg while doing it.
